Gearcase pressure test

To test gearcase sealing, proceed as follows:
1. Remove drain plug and screw in a pressure test gauge. See Figure 6-45. Stevens Experimental pressure test gauge illustrated.
2. Pump pressure up to 16-18 pounds. Gearcase must hold 16-18 pounds pressure.
Filling Gearcase
1. Place gearcase in an upright position in a suitable fixture.
2. Remove oil level and oil drain and fill plugs.
3. Fill gearcase with OMC Type "C" oil until lubricant appears at oil level hole. See Figure 6-46. Insert and tighten oil level plug first. Install oil drain and fill plug.
4. Inspect gearcase oil level after motor test.
